D.O.P. Valles de Benavente

The Protected Designation of Origen Valles de Benavente is located in the north of the province of Zamora, in the northwest of Spain and includes 62 municipalities.

The historical importance of cultivating vineyards and the creation of appetizing wines in the D.O.P. Valles de Benavente are documented in various parchments and studies dating back to the Middle Ages.

These documents certify the importance of the viticulture tradition not only in its economic impact but also in its cultural significance.

The designation consists of 155 viticulturists who produce between 800 and 900 tonnes of grapes for four wineries and bottling facilities.

The terrains are rocky upon clay soils and suffer harsh weather conditions: little rain, hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

Thus, the D.O.P. Valles de Benavente has a natural capacity to produce first-rate wines with great prospects for the future. What most helps to introduce these wines into national and international markets is their pronounced singularity and promising future.
